Office of the Governor on Disability Matters (OGDM) Anambra State, has launched its maiden website to train persons with disabilities on Information, Communication, Technology, ICT.
Unveiling the website, (www.ogdm.info) in Awka, the Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Disability Matters, Barr. Chuks Ezewuzie said it was the first of its kind in the history of Anambra State, added that it was set up to get information about activities of the present administration for the disability community.
He acknowledged that Information Communication Technology (ICT) had been the future world.
“We are able to achieve this through the efforts of Gov Willie Obiano who has determined to transform Anambra State.
“Governor Obiano’s vision is to make people with disability live like others in other workers
“ICT is the future world. That is what Governor Obiano is pushing to make Anambra a global state.
“His achievements can give eloquent testimonies. The airport and International Convention Center are constructed with sophisticated facilities that will meet the challenges of world technology.
” I also charged every ministry to join the fast-moving train of internet and digitize their plans in line with Governor Obiano’s policy,” Ezewuzie pointed.
Barr. Ezewuzie however called on Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’S) to establish their presence online for a wider reach to sustain Governor Willie Obiano vision.
In his remarks, the Head of ICT, Office of the Governor on Disability Matters and ODGM Website Developer, Mr. Ugonna Bonaventure Umeokwonna a visually impaired, described the website platform as a heavy site built with optimised accessibility for persons with disability in mind.
According to him, the site was widely built with many contents and navigation made visible to screen readers with haptic sensors, features such as: live documentary, achievement of the OGDM office, disability right law, blog session, gallery, user registration portal, department session among others.
The colour design was white fonts on dark background for easy visibility for low visually impaired people.
Ugonna Umeokwonna further urged people to visit the website www.odgm.info for information and activities about disability community.
In attendance was the Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor on Sign Language Communication Mr. Collins Joseph and Executive Assistant (EA) to the Governor on disability services Mr. Ugochukwu Okeke.
