The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations semifinal between Nigeria and South Africa is predicted by former Super Eagle coach Jose Peseiro to be the most thrilling match of the competition.
Only through a penalty shootout was Nigeria able to defeat South Africa, with goalie Stanley Nwabali emerging as the game’s MVP.
But in the competition’s finale, Ivory Coast defeated Peseiro’s team.
“It was the most exciting, yes, because it allowed us to play in the AFCON final,” the Portuguese player said to Sportitalia, “but we had a lot of really good moments during our time with the Super Eagles.”
Peseiro is currently free to work for any team. He resigned as the Super Eagles coach last month.
In addition, he offered some wishes to any team interested in signing him.
“After coaching teams in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, this was our third national team. While coaching a club team with winning goals would be equally thrilling, I would definitely like to be able to qualify and play with a team in the next World Cup.”
