On Tuesday, Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) nominee for president in the most recent general election, emphasized that he wanted Nigeria to function rather than be in a desperate attempt to become the nation’s leader.
In response to being named the “Leadership Politician of the Year 2023” at the annual Leadership Conference and Awards, Obi gave a speech in Abuja.
Obi declared, “I am not desperate to be president; I am desperate to make Nigeria work,” adding that young Nigerians needed to be actively involved in the country’s development in order to end poverty and criminality.
The former governor of Anambra State added that it was inappropriate for the war-torn nation of Ukraine to give grain to Nigeria while Niger State alone could feed all of Africa.
We don’t need an excuse for poverty. Obi stated that poverty should never exist in our lives, particularly in the North, and that Nigeria, with its more than 7,442,00 square meters of land, can feed all of Africa.
“Ukraine is not obliged to provide us with grain. Niger State’s 73, 000 square meter area is enough to feed Nigeria, Africa.
“Borno, which has a land area of over 70,000 square meters, and Taraba, the largest state in the Northeast, are four times larger than Belgium, a country that exports food. If we have the correct leadership, there is so much that the nation can do.
Obi made the observation, “The more people you lift out of poverty, the fewer criminals you have.”
