Caleb Murtfwang, the governor of Plateau State, has stated that the state’s murders need to stop.
According to the governor, he has already pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to find the murderers and put an end to the attacks in the state.
In a statement that he posted on X, Murtfwang claimed to have spoken with Tinubu and that they had reached some agreements together.
More than a hundred persons were slain on Christmas Eve in a number of towns in the state’s Bokkos and Barkin Ladi LGAs.
He said, “We are appreciative of the President, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for treating the situation in Plateau State as an urgent one, as represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima.”
“I commend the Vice President for expressing how profoundly disturbed the horrific killings of Plateau State residents have left them.
“We cannot forgive what has occurred, and I begged His Excellency the President to put an end to the bloodshed on the Plateau when I spoke with him.
“The recent events were completely unnecessary, uncivilized, and uncalled for. It is evident that these deaths were not committed by ghosts, and the federal government needs to find and apprehend those responsible.
“I have talked with the President, and we have made a lot of decisions together. I won’t stop working until those decisions are carried out.
“We’ll stop at nothing to make up for the mistakes of the past and see to it that those who require medical attention immediately now get it.
“I want to think that the seed of our unity has been sown. I have been praying for this day that we, the Plateau leaders, will become one.”
