Police Arraign Jikwoyi Resident For Breach Of Trust, Cheating

The Police have arraigned one Bassey Oyo before a Grade 1 Area Court in Karu, Abuja. The defendant of Jikwoyi phase 1 by NTA Quarters Abuja is being tried on six-count of joint acts, criminal breach of trust, cheating, false personation and criminal intimidation.

The Prosecutor, Barr. Vincent Osuji, told the court that one Reginald Odok of army post housing estate Kurudu Abuja reported the matter at Karu Area Command Headquarters Abuja. Ayotunde said the complainant sometime in March criminally and jointly conspired with others who are now at large to impersonate one Amb. Lawal Kazaure. He further stated that the complainant, her friend and brother entrusted the defendant the total sum of N500,000 but with intent to cheat, he converted the money to his own personal use. The prosecutor said the offence contravened Sections 79, 313, 322, 179, 348, 397 of the penal code law.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges. The Judge, Inuwa Maiwada, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N600,000 with one reliable surety. Maiwada, said the surety must be someone with a verifiable address and the address must be verified by court staff and the police. He adjourned the case till November 27th 2020.
