Police Arrest 3 Robbery Suspects In Kogi

A gang of three armed robbery suspects have been arrested by men of the Kogi State Police Command.

A statement made available to the New National Star by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP William Ovye Aya said this followed the directives of the Commissioner of Police, Ede Ayuba Ekpeji to all area commanders, divisional police officers, operational and tactical commanders as well as intelligence officers to secure public places and guarantee a safe and secure environment for all.

According to him, the suspected armed robbers were arrested at Iyara on Tuesday, following a report to the division that three armed men had invaded a POS shop at Ogidi, attacked the operator, inflicted injuries on him and forcefully collected an unspecified amount of money from him.

Aya disclosed that the suspected armed robbers who were trailed to their hide-out were arrested with the recovery of a single barrel gun and phones.

He said the suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation.

According to him, the commissioner of police has used the opportunity to reassure members of the public of the command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in the state to ensure adequate protection of lives and property.

He also called on the public to sharpen their power of observation and volunteer credible and timely information on the activities of criminal elements in the state.
