The Police in Bauchi State has arrested four suspects in connection with the killing of Hon Musa Mantai Baraza, the member representing Dass constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
According to a press statement by the command’s Public Relation Officer, DSP Ahmed Mohammad Wakil, On the 14th of November 2020 at about 0104hrs, one Abdulrazak Mohammed aged 29yrs, Abdulmumini Umar 29yrs, Yusuf Mohammed aged 18yrs and Mas’ud Hassan aged 22yrs all of Bauchi town, were arrested in connection to the case of the gruesome killing of Hon. Musa Mantai Baraza, were his two wives, Rashida Musa aged 35yrs, Rahina Musa aged 30yrs and 18 months old daughter Khausar, were kidnapped and taken to an unknown destination.
“The suspects robbed the lawmaker Musa of eight different phones, all valued at the sum of three hundred thousand naira, thereafter shot him to death. On receipt of the report, a joint operation between IRT and Command detectives swung into action, rescued the victims and arrested the above-mentioned suspects. During investigation Hon. Musa’s phone, Tecno Handset with MTN sim card was recovered in their possession. Other exhibits recovered include one Tecno Y2, One itel keypad, One tecno keypad, One Tambo P2470 keypad, One tecno keypad with MTN sim card. The investigation is still in progress after which suspects will be a charge to court for prosecution/possible conviction.
“In another development, On the 1st of December 2020 at about 0700hrs, following a credible information received from a good Samaritan at Zaki Divisional Police Headquarters, that on the same date at about 0230hrs, some group of hoodlums armed with bows, arrows and cutlasses numbering about five, invaded Duwaduwa village murmur ward via Sakwa district a remote area, attacked and macheted one Muhammadu Adamu of Duwaduwa village with cutlasses in his house located at Duwa Duwa village and made away with his brand-new Bajaj motorcycle, valued at the sum of N270,000,” the statement read.
The statement said that while the victim was lying down in a pool of blood, he raised alarm where some angry villagers mobilized and chased the hoodlums after which one of the suspect identified as Sani Alhaji Dalori, suspected to be among the gangs was lynched by the angry villagers while the remaining gang of the hoodlums escaped with the motorcycle to unknown destination.
“On receipt of the information, a team of detectives led by the DPO visited the scene of crime, where the corpse of the suspected hoodlum was moved to the General Hospital Zaki for postmortem. An investigation search was conducted at the house of the suspect where one locally made SMG rifle was recovered. The Commissioner of Police directed that the case to be transferred to SCID for discreet investigation.
Exhibit recovered include one locally made SMG riffle, cutlass, bow and arrow,” the statement said.
Similarly, on the 24th of November /2020 at about 1010hrs, One Dahiru Isyaku of Disa village in Warji Local government came to Warji Divisional Headquarters and reported that at about 2000hrs, his younger brother, one Naziru Musa, aged 20yrs of the same address was found lying unconscious in the bush along Ningi -Disa village road near Unguwar Babaji and his Bajaj Boxer motorcycle valued N250,000 was robbed by unknown person.
The police Spokesman said that on receiving the report, a team of detectives swung into action and chased the suspects, adding that two suspects were arrested namely; Abdullahi Suleiman of Tibako village and Ibrahim Musa of Gwam village Ningi LGA at neighbouring Jigawa State in collaboration with police personnel at Sara via Gwaram LGA. The robbed motor-cycle was equally recovered as the investigation is on progress.
