He claims that the suspect was also apprehended while using a Toyota Starlet with the license plate YLA 321 ZY on the Jalingo-Yola bypass road.

“When interrogated, the suspect could not give a satisfactory account of himself, hence a search was conducted on his vehicle, and the following items were recovered in his possession,” Eribo stated yesterday during the parade of suspected criminals recently detained by agents. Eight million, five hundred and fifty-five thousand Naira (N8,555,000) in cash, three thousand unused recharge cards, four amulets, and seven phones.

The suspect bought off the PMF officers, asking them to accept the whole amount and let him leave. However, the officers refused, and as a result, the suspect was taken into custody.

Amidst the chaos, the 6 Brigade’s 144 Battalion (Rear) in Jalingo came into conflict with bandits who had kidnapped three people in the state capital.

In a statement, Lt. Olubodunde Oni, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 6 Brigade, stated that the bandits were traveling to Yorro when they were ambushed by the military and engaged in a vigorous gunfight.

“Operating on information about the bandits’ and their victims’ movement from Ardo-Kola to Yorro, troops stationed in Yorro Local Government Area’s Apawa village promptly mobilized to the area and pursued the armed group,” he stated.

“The soldiers engaged the offenders with superior weapons, demonstrating extraordinary skill and resolve.

The bandits were compelled by this to give over their three abducted victims.

“As we pursue the kidnappers, we are happy to announce that the freed persons have been reunited with their families.”
