Luck ran out for baby merchants recently in Enugu penultimate Wednesday when men of the Nigerian Police Force, Area Command Abakpa Nike, Enugu descended on them in the operational base in New Haven area of Enugu metropolis.
The operators of the baby sale business had been doing their illicit deal to the ire and discomfiture of their entire neighbourhood who were disturbed constantly by noise and yells coming out of the said house, from the house and the men who visited them.
This invasion and arrest were triggered by a tip-off by a good Samaritan to the frontline women welfare group,WACOL, which promptly swung into action, reporting same to the police through a petition.
Swiftly, the police rose to the occasion and invaded the baby factory over the weekend and nabbed all occupants including men and pregnant young girls and babies.
The baby factory, a two-storey building, kept girls, arranges men who impregnate them while their babies are sold off on delivery.
WACOL, Women Aid Collectives is committed to fighting all forms of abuse as well as violence in the society and enjoins all welfare focused groups as well as security agencies to join in the fight against social malaise.
WACOL urged the Police and NAPTIP as well as other security agencies to ensure proper investigation into the matter and to guarantee the prosecution of the perpetrators of this dastardly acts
