By Victoria Yakubu

The Ogun State Police Command has recovered an AK-47 rifle, two rounds of ammunition and a Mercedes-Benz GLK during an operation in Ota, as part of efforts to curb criminal activities in the area.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Oluseyi Babaseyi, the recovery followed a search of an unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK, during which officers found the rifle and two rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

The police said the vehicle and recovered items had been secured, while investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the discovery. The development comes days after another police operation in Ijaba, Iyesi, Ota, following a robbery incident involving suspected armed robbers.

During the operation, the police said officers neutralised one suspected armed robber and recovered two vehicles, suspected stolen property and a locally made pistol with ammunition.

Commending the officers involved in both operations, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, Bode Ojajuni, praised their vigilance and professionalism.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to proactive policing and the protection of lives and property across the state.

The Command urged residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing and investigating criminal activities.
