Residents of some communities in Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia and Keffi Local Government Areas have been warned against peddling unfounded rumour over alleged disappearance of male genitals in the communities.
The Nasarawa State Police Command in a statement by the command spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel on Wednesday, said the police observed with dismay the ugly trend where members of the public tag individuals of causing mysterious disappearance of genitals and resort to mob action/jungle justice.
“The Police Command wishes to state that medical examination carried out on victims who reported cases of mysterious genital disappearance in Nasarawa Eggon, Obi, Lafia and Keffi Local Government Areas of Nasarawa, gave all the victims a clean bill of Health.
“In view of the forgoing, the Police Command wishes to State unequivocally that, the cases of alleged mysterious genital disappearance is baseless, unfounded and without proof,” the statement noted.
He warned that anyone caught engaging in mob action or jungle justice or raising false alarm that leads to grievous assault inflicting harm on any member of the public shall be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
Similarly, the Chairman of the Council, Mohammed Baba Shehu debunked the alleged organ disappearance and appealed for calm among residents while encouraging that people go on with their businesses.
He assured that security and sister agencies will keep watch to prevail against any form of criminality in the area.
There have been reports of recent that eight personas had their private parts removed mysteriously around a student village in Angwan Lambu area of Keffi Local Government of Nasarawa State.
New National Star gathered that three, out of the eight persons regained their genitals upon the apprehension of the alleged perpetrator by men of the Nigeria Police in Keffi.
