President Tinubu Reinstates Professor Nenibarini Zabbey as HYPREP Project Coordinator

President Bola Tinubu, on Monday approved the reinstatement of Professor Nenibarini Zabbey as the Project Coordinator (PC) of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP).

Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, who disclosed this in a statement, said the reinstatement of the HYPREP PC by Mr. President takes effect immediately.

Two days ago, Chief Ngalele in a statement announced that President Tinubu has made new appointees to man the affairs of some agencies. Among the list of 10 appointees that was mentioned was Dr. Olufemi Adekanmbi to become the Project Coordinator for the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP).

Other appointees were former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, and Director of the Independent Campaign Council for Tinubu-Shettima, Mr. Silas Agara as Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE); Mr. Umar Ibrahim Mohammed as Director-General of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency (NIHSA); former majority leader of the Kano State House of Assembly, and also the Principal Registrar of the Kano State High Court of Justice, Mr. Baffa Dan Agundi: Director-General of the National Productivity Centre (NPC); Engr. Cornelius Oluwasegun Adebayo as Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the National Agricultural Land Development Authority (NALDA).

Also on the list are Mr. Saleh Abubakar as Director-General of the National Agency for the Great Green Wall (NAGGW); Mr. Tosin Adeyanju as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF); Oluwaseun Faleye: Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF); Mrs. Mojisolaoluwa Kehinde Alli-Macaulay, former lawmaker and Chairperson, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs, Poverty Alleviation, and Job Creation as Executive Director (Operations) of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF).

For the nominees include Ms. Omolola Bridget Oloworaran – Nominated as the new Director-General of the National Pension Commission (PenCom). The appointment is subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate; and Mr Jobson Ewalefoh – nominated as Director-General of the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC).The appointment is subject to the confirmation of the Nigerian Senate.

However, according to the statement on Monday 15th July 2024, the President made the decision after reviewing HYPREP PC, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey’s performance and reached to conclusion that the PC is qualified to carry out his duties in compliance with the laws governing the project’s implementation.
