The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has released the reach of the first batch of the Oxford/AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines.
In a recently released document, the agency confirmed that 215,277 eligible Nigerian have been vaccinated as of Tuesday, March 23.
This makes about 5.5 per cent of the 3.92 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine that arrived the country on March 2.
States where no one eligible for the first batch of the vaccines has been vaccinated included Abia, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Oyo, Taraba, Niger and Zamfara states.
Lagos State had the highest number of vaccinated persons with 58,461 people already vaccinated. This number was followed by Bauchi State where 23,827 people had been vaccinated and Jigawa State where 20,800 people were vaccinated.

So far 162,076 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country with 148,530 people discharged. The Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, says that the ministry hopes to vaccinate 70 per cent of the Nigerian population in a period of two years so that herd immunity can be achieved.
