With the withdrawal of military checkpoints in Ondo, kidnapping seems to have resumed in some flashpoints in Akoko Area of Ondo State with the abduction of the Principal of Auga Community Grammar school, Mr Joshua Adeyemi his vice, Mr Ifedayo Yesufu and three NPower Teachers.
The incident was said to have occurred on Thursday afternoon while the victims were travelling in a Toyota Corolla car along Auga-Ise Road in Akoko East local government area.
One of the abducted teachers, Mrs Blessing Okeke who was heavily pregnant was later released because of her state.
Narrating their ordeal as she broke the news to the wife of the abducted Principal, Mrs Hellen Adeyemi, Mrs Okeke said they were thoroughly beaten even as they trekked for over one hour in the bush.
The divisional police officer for Ikare division, superintendent of police SP Oladutoye Akinwande disclosed that a search and rescue operation had commenced while the blue Toyota corolla in which the victims were travelling before the abduction occurred had been removed from the spot which it was abandoned.
Meanwhile, some residents of Akoko area particularly in the border towns of Ajowa Isua, Akunu Auga Ikakumo Igashi and Eriti have called on the government to beef up security in the areas due to the upsurge in crime rate as a result of the removal of military checkpoints on roads in the state.
