Redesigned notes :NOA charges people to deposit old naira notes before deadline

The Kebbi State coordinator of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Joseph Michika has charged the people of the State to ensure they deposit the old N200, N500 and N100 notes in their various banks before the jan.31 deadline.

Michika gave the charge yesterday during press briefing in Birnin Kebbi.

He stated that the redesigned of the currency of which 3 out of the 8 naira note which are the N200, N500 and N1000 which was launched by the Mr president Muhammadu Buhari on 23 Dec. 2022, ” we a urged the people of the state to ensure they deposit their old N200, N500 and N100 notes in their various banks before the jan.31 deadline”.

State coordinator said ” old notes be deposited by the public to banks or any agency before 31 Jan. 2023, banks has been directed to open for reception of old notes that all deposit from Monday to Saturday without charges within dis tyme”, Michika said NOA is in collaboration with CBN to embark on public awareness campaign to all 36 state and federal capital territory saying that the sensitization programme was aimed at enlightening the people on the new naira notes and why they must deposit the old notes before the Jan. 31 deadline.

He said that the CBN had dispensed lot of the new naira notes to the banks, and all Banks are available to receive old notes before the time.

“The Jan. 31st is still the deadline for all Nigerians to deposit the old naira notes in the banks. The CBN is doing everything within its capacity to make the new notes available for banks to dispense through ATMs

He further said there is a justification to this purpose to government to redesign any currency as a period of 5 to 8 years in country
