Reps tells Tinubu – Unfreeze NSIPA account in 72 hours

President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the House of Representatives to issue an order within 72 hours to unfreeze the National Social Investment Programs Agency’s (NSIPA) finances.

After a proposal by Deputy Speaker Ben Kalu and thirty-two other members, the lawmakers adopted the resolution on Tuesday.

Recall that in January, President Bola Tinubu issued an order to halt all social intervention initiatives in the wake of the corruption scandals that shook the industry.

N-Power, Conditional Cash Transfers (CCT), the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP), and the National Home-Grown School Feeding Program (NHGSFP) are all within the NSIPA’s jurisdiction.

“Restoring NSIPA’s account is in line with the president’s vision, guaranteeing that efforts to alleviate poverty continue to be effective, efficient, and impactful. It is imperative that this matter be resolved quickly in order to sustain momentum toward the administration’s objectives to eradicate poverty,” he stated.

In order to facilitate the seamless recommencement of all NSIPA programs, the House decided that the government should make sure that the frozen accounts of the National Social Investment Programs Agency, or NSIPA, be unfrozen within 72 hours.

Additionally, they urged the government to immediately release monies to NSIPA so that 395,731 N-Power beneficiaries nationwide can receive their unpaid stipends.
