One constant of the year’s ending is the various list of extraordinary individuals published by independent editorial teams. In the recently released Forbes Magazine World’s 100 Most Powerful Women for 2020 list, names of women serving in various capacities and blazing a trail in their own individual ways were listed including Rihanna, Beyoncé Knowles, Taylor Swift, Jacinda Ardern among others.
Rihanna came up as number 69 on the list, among accomplishments listed was her efforts during the COVID-19 lockdown to assist the needy and victims of abuse and the success of her business Fenty Beauty and SAVAGE X FENTY. The popstar and businesswoman was reported to have donated an estimated $8 million towards the needy in New York and abuse victims in Los Angeles.
Jacinda Ardern which appeared at number 32 on the list was applauded for the ‘new norm’ she set in governance as leader of the Labour Party in New Zealand. Through the heat of the coronavirus, Ardern was recognised as one of the world leaders that handled the pandemic better.
Beyoncé Knowles appeared at number 72 on the list and was celebrated for financial success. The singer had amassed $250 million during a world tour and is currently in partnership with Adidas.
Taylor Swift was recognised for both her financial and musical success and her deliberate influence on the political attitude of fans. Her album Folklore was the first to sell up to a million units during the quarantine in 2020.
Queen Elizabeth II, Ava DuVernay, Oprah Winfrey, Kamala Harris, Melinda Gates, Stacey Abrams, Donna Langley, Sheryl Sandberg and others appeared on the list too.
