The Taraba state governor Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku on Friday, said he has managed the state well despite the state’s meagre resources and has delivered the dividend of democracy to the people.
Ishaku while delivering his speech during the commissioning of the Jalingo 22 km dual carriageway in Jalingo, he said Taraba state is a small state and second to the last in federal allocation and the 35th lowest in Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) among the 36 States in the country.
According to him he said “despite the scarcity of resources in Taraba, it is important for me to appropriately manage the resources available and put them to proper and greater use for the benefit of the people. I have managed Taraba better than anyone even with the meager resources we have. I’ve been identified by ICAN as among the top 5 governors who managed the resources of their states despite the state generating little revenue and receiving less from federal allocation”.
The governor further state that “It is a demonstration of what I have learnt from my principal, Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as he committed himself to infrastructural development which he has passed down to us to ensure that we resuscitate and rehabilitate any of the infrastructure within our states”.
The occasion which was braced by the former president of Nigeria Dr, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, who commissioned the projects, applauded the governor for using his skills as an architect to develop Taraba.
Jonathan also appreciated the government and the people of Taraba for the warm reception and the opportunity to commission the project.
He also commended the quality of the project, saying, “I want to commend the contractors and the governor for the quality of work.
“This is a project that will open up Jalingo to attract more investment”.
