Rohr: I accepted pay cut to coach Benin Republic team

Former Super Eagles and head coach of Benin Republic, national team, Gernot Rohr, has disclosed  that he took a pay cut to become the coach the Nigerian neighbors after he was sacked by Nigeria.
The Franco German coach who managed the Super Eagles for over four years on a salary of $50, 000 a month is said to be earning around $25,000 currently with the Cheetahs.
Rohr has insisted that he took the Benin job because he was driven by passion.
He said: “I was lucky to have a long career of more than fifty years in professional football, I did not come for the money. I accepted half of my salary that I had in Nigeria. If I had come for the money, I would not have come.
“I came for an adventure, for a great project, in a friendly country, which I had already appreciated by coming to play there.”
