An 18-year-old sales representative, Comfort John Ochanya, of Masaka, Nasarawa State, has appeared before a Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly converting money belonging to her employer into personal use.
The accused is standing trial for the offence of criminal breach of trust by servant, cheating and criminal misappropriation.
The prosecutor, Adeyanju Ayotunde, told the court that on September 25, One Pharm Obetta Anthony, of plot 46, Prince and Princess Estate, Apo, Abuja, lodged a report against the accused at the Karu Police Station.
He said Obetta had reported that he entrusted N430, 000 to the accused to go to Wuse Market to purchase items for restocking the pharmacy and stores but with an intent to cheat, Ochanya returned back after a few hours and claimed that some group of fraudsters she met inside the vehicle she boarded fraudulently deceived her and collected the sum of N400, 000 (four hundred thousand naira).
Ayotunde said the offences contravened sections 314, 322 and 307 of the penal code law. After the charges were read to her, the accused pleaded not guilty.
Ruling, the Judge, Inuwa Maiwada admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety in like sum who must live within Abuja. He adjourned the case until November 23, 2020.
