At Elgee Info Media’s tenth anniversary, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will get an award for being the most grassroots-friendly governor. Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to grassroots development will be honored at an event on Sunday at the Lagos Marriott Hotel in Ikeja.
The community publication Elgee Info Media has praised Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s T.H.E.M.E.S. Plus Development Agenda for its contributions to rural development. Important infrastructure projects including the building of roads in Ijake Community, Oto-Awori LCDA, Ganiyu-Oduntan in Ikorodu, Ayubu-Bashorun Road in Ijede, Erelu-Amikanle Road in Alimosho, and Onishon Street in Ibeju-Lekki demonstrate the governor’s dedication to enhancing rural areas.
Publisher/Chief Executive Samuel Akinyemi released a statement that said, “In addition to infrastructure, Sanwo-Olu has facilitated 500KVA transformers to communities, including Odan-Ilogbo-Eremi PH1 in Olorunda, Owu CDA in Ibeju-Lekki, Gengenla CDA in Agunfoye, Ama Street in Ijede, and Agbede Omolaye in Ikorodu.”
These programs are a part of his administration’s attempts to reduce the amount of people moving from rural to urban areas by converting them into semi-urban centers. A few local council chairsmen, Oba Saheed Elegusi, Kusenla III, Lukman Lawal, Special Advisor to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and others will also be honored during the occasion.
It is anticipated that state representatives and other Nigerians will be there. The celebration, which had been planned for a later period, was pushed back to give the governor’s close friend and supporter Gboyega Soyannwo, the deputy chief of staff, time to grieve.
The program will include a compendium detailing the successes of Sanwo-Olu’s administration, an audio-visual documentary showcasing his accomplishments, and an art display.
Sanwo-Olu will get a merit award together with other grassroots achievers. To give visitors a better understanding of grassroots government, the Special Advisor to Minister of Solid Minerals Kehinde Bamigbetan will also give a lecture at the ceremony.
The organizers believe that Sanwo-Olu’s honor highlights his administration’s dedication to the growth and regeneration of rural communities.
