Saturday’s commissioning of the National Assembly Library

Hon. Yusuf Shittu Galambi, says the head of the House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Library, Research, and Documentation, the first phase of the National Assembly Library will be put into service on December 16, 2023.
Galambi, who made this announcement during the committee’s first meeting, praised the previous 9th Assembly for starting the process of building a contemporary library appropriate for Nigeria’s top legislature.

“The library building’s first phase is practically complete and will be commissioned on December 16, 2023,” he stated. “The second phase, which relates to commissioning, equipping, furnishing, and take-off, is in view.”

According to Galambi, the committee’s members must cooperate to ensure that the library has the cutting-edge equipment it needs to become a premier resource center that will better assist National Assembly members.

In addition, he demanded the release of data that would support appropriate legislative participation and fortify not just National Assembly resolutions and bills but also long-lasting legislation.

“Dear colleagues, this panel serves the National Assembly members as one of the House committees. Therefore, among other things, the committee’s jurisdiction is as follows:

acting as a clearinghouse for data on various position papers from seminars, other house standing and ad hoc committees, and other legislative. Recording all delegations from the House to parliamentary conferences, workshops, seminars, and capacity development events that are attended by House officials and members.

ensuring that, for the National Assembly Library to operate as efficiently as possible, it is kept in good condition and is supplied with current, pertinent resources. requesting information and resources from the legislative branch and any other branch of government that will help carry out the assignment and facilitate the legislative process.

“This committee will undoubtedly succeed with the caliber of members and commitment, but achieving the above mandates is not going to be an easy task,” he stated.
