An 18-year-old security guard, Emmanuel Peter and one Bitrus Benedict have been brought before a Grade 1 Area Court in Karu, Abuja for allegedly breaking into his boss house and stealing cash and valuables all amounting to N543,000. The defendants of different house addresses and residents of FCT Abuja, are facing a four-count charge of joint acts, housebreaking, mischief and theft.
However, they pleaded not guilty to the charges. The police prosecutor, Barr. Adeyanju Ayotunde told the court that the defendants committed the crime while the complainant one Shehu Dalhat travelled to his village to see his sick mother.
He said that when he came back he discovered that his security conspired with Bitrus to break into his apartment and steal the cash sum of N445,000, 4 wristwatches valued at N65,000 and 8 perfumes valued at N33,000. Ayotunde, said the offences contravened sections 79, 353, 327 and 287 of the penal code law.
