Senate confirms eleven justices to the Supreme Court

The nomination of eleven new Justices of the Supreme Court was approved by the Senate on Thursday.

They were confirmed after the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, and Legal Matters’ report was reviewed.

The Senate accepted the committee’s recommendation after it had vetted the candidates.

Senator Mohammed Monguno, a Borno North native and the committee’s head, delivered the report to the Senate.

On Wednesday, December 20, President Bola Tinubu requested that the Senate confirm the 11 nominees.

The National Judicial Council, NJC, nominated the nominees to take over the vacant positions left by some Justices of the Supreme Court’s resignation and death.
