Senator Ireti urges FCT residents to embrace values of patience, resilience

Senator Hajiya Ireti Heebah Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) at the Senate, has encouraged all residents of the territory to embrace the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience, particularly in the light of current challenges facing the nation.

Kingibe, who made the call in her message on the occasion of Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, said she recognises the significance of the anniversary as a key milestone in the country’s democratic governance.

She reiterated her dedication to the ongoing intervention programmes and effective representation aimed at fostering the growth and development of the FCT, even as she expressed optimism that through collective efforts, residents can work toward a brighter future for the capital and the nation as a whole.

The Senator urged Nigerians to honour the legacies of notable figures such as, Dr. Herbert Macauley, Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Sir Ahmadu Bello, and Chief Obafemi Awolowo, emphasising their contributions to Nigeria’s journey toward independence.

In a statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Kennedy Mbele, Kingibe also called for a moment of reflection on the nation’s founding principles.

“Let us seize this opportunity to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, as we reflect on our shared struggles and aspirations,” she stated.
