Service Chiefs appears Today Before Senate

Today, the Senate is scheduled to hear from Nigeria’s military chiefs in order to address concerns of nationwide insecurity.

In a resolution passed on Tuesday of last week, the Senate had called the military chiefs to come before it in full to provide the necessary justifications for the nation’s deteriorating security situation.
The service chiefs will testify before the Senate on Wednesday and Thursday, according to Senator Adetokunbo Abiru.

He stated, “We were going to set a new day for the interface this week on Wednesday or Thursday, but the Senate as a whole has set the two days for very important and productive engagement with the service chiefs.”

Following a two-hour closed-door session in plenary, the Senate discussed a motion made by Senator Ahmad Lawan regarding the passing of Senator Bukar Abba Ibrahim. The Senate observed a minute of silence in honor of the deceased and sent a delegation of nine men to express condolences to the family and governor of Yobe State.
Senator Adamu Aliero of the PDP Kebbi Central will serve as the delegation’s leader.
