Settle minimum wage with Tinubu without strike, ANPPD urges NLC

The African Network for Peace Progress and Development (ANPPD) has pleaded with Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to stop the continuous calling for strike actions anytime they(labour) are not in agreement with government stand in the issue of increasing the workers salaries, forgetting the interest of more than one hundred million other Nigerian workers.

In a statement on Thursday by the ANPPD President, Prince Elias Odoemena who said that the lopsidedness of Nigeria Labour Congress in seeking for the welfare of some government workers who are about one percent of Nigeria population against the rest of Nigeria population is not good to the people of Nigeria.

Odoemena accused Nigeria Labour Congress for their refusal of caring all Nigria Government workers along in their negotiations with government negotiations and warned that the strikes always affect millions of workers who are in private settings, private workers who will not feed their families if they don’t go out for their daily work, these include the factories workers and majority of journalists in private organisations.

Prince Odoemena said that the problem of Nigerian workers is not minimum wage but finding the enabling environment and solution on how they will spend their monies wisely.

Prince Odoemena then called on Nigeria Labour Congress to discuss with Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his Vice President, Shetima on how to reduce the electricity bill and fuel to enable Nigerians move free for their businesses.

Prince Odoemena also called for the consullation of electricity providers’ licences who are not standing on their agreement of serving Nigerians well.

Prince Odoemena, who said that after more than one year, Nigerian Lecturers went on strike which did yield any fruit, it took the wisdom of the the Speaker of House of Representatives Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila who single-handedly negotiated for the calling off the strike, which made our children to return to school after wasting one year at home.

Prince Odoemena adviced the government to create a group which will include our Traditional Rulers, civil society some Labour officials, on how to reduce costs of things in Nigeria, and tasked the labour to send their suggestion to the President, and not always calling for strike action.
