Seun Kuti: “Only Poor People Will Go To Heaven”

The artist asserted in an interview with Spill With Phyna that anyone who is accumulating money for the future does not think that Jesus Christ would return.

He asserts that since Islam and Christianity are grounded in the present, people who have savings and bank accounts will not enter paradise.

Due to their poverty, the artist said that the majority of Nigerians—only 48 million out of the country’s 200 million—would make paradise.

“Oh Seun, you have to give your life to Christ,” many sought to preach to him, he claimed. I question them the same thing every time: “Do you have a bank account?” If so, you and I are very similar. You’re there wherever I go when I die.

Because faith in Jesus Christ does not equate to faith in a person or a personality. It is based on certain doctrines. You have to have faith in Jesus’ death and resurrection. Islam and Christianity are modern, immediate faiths. Everything is predicated on the idea that everything is about to end because Jesus Christ is returning shortly. You are not a true Christian if you do not think that Jesus Christ is returning soon. However, everyone of you who think that Jesus Christ will return soon have money accounts set up for tomorrow. You are reserving for the future. You don’t think Jesus Christ is coming back today, then.

“Those with less wealth will be the ones who enter paradise. That’s its meaning. Just 48 million people in Nigeria are bank account holders. When Nigerians were demanding that stipends be sent to their accounts as palliatives during COVID-19, the government made this revelation. That won’t work, according to the government, as just 48 million of Nigeria’s 200 million citizens have bank accounts. Therefore, because they have met the first requirement, perhaps a large number of individuals who will enter paradise are Nigerians.
