Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, better known by his stage name Spyro, is a Nigerian singer who has admitted that he was hurt that two of his friends, Fireboy DML and Oxlade, achieved fame before him.
Spyro, who recently appeared as a guest on the Tea With Tay podcast, spoke about how hurt he was to see some of his less experienced colleagues in the music business rise to fame before him despite having paid to have his songs promoted on blogs back in the day.
He added that, unbeknownst to him at the time, God was teaching him through his delayed achievement that it was by his grace and not by his talent.
“It hurts me to go, but Oxlade and Fireboy blow me away.” Not so much agony, but it set me off. Although I’m glad they blew when they did, these are the same people who I worked with in the industry before. God, what the heck is going on? Thus, I was in excruciating pain. It was annoying. I would shed a tear. I would battle God.
