Isa local government area of the state, the Sokoto State government has identified 35 new cases of Ascites illness.
The area’s health stakeholders failed to notify the ministry of the disease’s onset, a move that state commissioner of health Hajiya Asabe Balarabe described as unprofessional. He acknowledged this and expressed disappointment.
Balarabe’s media assistant, Murjanatu Magaji Sa’Idu, in Sokoto, released a statement confirming the epidemic.
She claimed that as soon as she received the report, she rushed to the Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, where several local children who had been impacted by the disease were admitted and receiving care.
The commissioner revealed that the ministry has established an isolation center with trained medical staff and medications to treat individuals who have got the illness.
Ummaru Muhammad Ubandawaki, the chief nursing officer of General Hospital Isa, notified the commissioner and her staff that out of the thirty patients hospitalized, treated, and released, thirty were suspected of having the condition, and only two were being admitted to UDUTH.
The district head of Isa, Alhaji Nasiru Malami Ahmad II, and the sole administrators of the local government areas of Isa and Sabon Birni, Garba Muhammad Kaba and Alhaji Isah Muhammad Dan Dela, praised the commissioner for his time in personally evaluating the epidemic.
The commissioner’s bravery and the team’s deeds, according to the two, demonstrated the administration’s dedication to reviving the health sector—one of its nine agenda items.
Balarabe also gave state-wide health directors instructions to make sure that newly suspected cases are reported as soon as possible in their local communities.
