South East Contractors decry Marginalization on PHRC Rehabilitation Project in Rivers State 

As tribalism, nepotism, marginalization continues to cause rapid contraction of the heart muscle to patriotic citizens of Nigeria, South East Petroleum Engineering Contractors have decried Marginalization in Port Harcourt Refinery Rehabilitation Project.

Speaking with journalists at Rock View Hotel Okigwe Road Owerri, Imo State recently, one of the victims who gave his name as Engr.Phil Nnaka said that about six Contoractors from South East Geopolitical Zone who tenderd to work in the in the Port Harcourt Refinery Rehabilitation Project were  not shortlisted, adding that when they petition to the Management of the Company, they informed them that the Committee slated for the Rehabilitation would address such petition .

Nnaka further disclosed that at a meeting held recently at the Port Harcourt Refinery Complex, Alesa Eleme, River State by the Committee which comprised the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Malam Mele Kyari, Chief Operation Officer, Refinery and Petrochemical Engr.Mustapha Yakubu, the Chief Financial Officer of the Corporation, Alhaji Umar Ajiya and the Managing Director of Port Harcourt Refinery, Engr.Ahmed Dikko backedowm their petition to be part of the on-going rehabilitation in the refinery.

He said that he did not see the rationale and due process in NNPC and PHRC top Officers be controlled by people from the same tribe “It is very horrible ”

Nnaka urged the Federal Government to interrogate and investigate the activities of a particular ethnic tribe going on in the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State and NNPC.

It could be recalled that the Federal Government of Nigeria Under President Mohammadu Buhari approved $1.5 million for rehabilitation of Port Harcourt Refinery which will assume full production capacity in April 5,2023.
