Super Eagles still detained at Libyan airport
Twelve hours after arriving in Libya, the Super Eagles are still stuck at the Al Abaq Airport.
On Sunday night, while the pilot was finishing his approach to the Benghazi Airport, the ValueJet chartered plane was oddly and dangerously diverted to the little airport outside of Benghazi.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) claims that the Lbyan Football Federation did not provide a reception team or even vehicles to transport the delegation members from the airport to their accommodation, which was reportedly three hours away in Benghazi.
The NFF arranged for the crew to travel in separate vehicles, but the aircraft’s diversion disrupted the plan.
As NFF authorities prepare to fly the team home, players have decided not to continue playing the game.
After winning 1-0 in the first leg last Friday, the Super Eagles will play Libya on Tuesday.
