Hugo Broos, the coach of South Africa, has praised Super Eagles player Ademola Lookman in advance of Bafana Bafana’s match against Nigeria in the semifinals of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, or AFCON, in Ivory Coast.
On Saturday night, South Africa upset Cape Verde 2-1 on penalties while Nigeria defeated Angola 1-0 to secure a spot in the semi-finals. On Wednesday, the two nations will trade tackles in Bouaké’s Stade de la Paix.
According to Broos, Nigeria has been getting better every time they play, even after their opening group match ended in a 1-1 tie with Equatorial Guinea.
Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen are two of the Nigerian team’s extremely excellent players who the coach believes can make a difference.
“Nigeria is a team that became better and better every game so when I saw them playing, it’s again a very good team with a very good striker,” Broos told reporters following the team’s triumph against Cape Verde.
“We have to analyze a little bit more now because we didn’t at the time. There are also a few good players, like the very good player who scored the goal, Lookman.”
