On Friday, the Supreme Court overturned Caleb Mutfwang’s removal from office as Plateau State governor.
Recall that in the Plateau State gubernatorial election held on March 18, Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 525,299 votes, defeating Nentawe Yilwatda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 481,370 votes.
Even yet, the Plateau State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in the state capital of Jos confirmed the results of the governor’s election. Mutfwang, however, filed an appeal with the Supreme Court to contest the appellate court’s ruling after the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal reversed his victory in a ruling on November 19, 2023.
