Surrender to EFCC, Appeal Court tells Yahaya Bello

The immediate past governor of Kogi state, Yahaya Bello has ben asked to produce himself for prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)

The former governor has remained in hiding as he tries to evade all moves by the anti-graft agency to try him in the alleged corruption charges against him, during his eight years administration in the state

The Court of Appeal on Tuesday ordered Yahaya Bello to produce himself for arraignment, and restrained him from taking further steps in the charge unless he is arraigned.

The court further set aside the judgment delivered by the Kogi State High Court.

Bello’s whereabouts have been unknown since the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, attempted to arrest him during a raid from his residence in Abuja, a few months ago.

Governor Usman Ododo had scuttled attempts by EFCC’s operatives to arrest Bello from his residence in Abuja.

EFCC is currently prosecuting Bello for alleged misappropriation of over N80 billion while he was a governor for eight years.
