Suspected motorcycle snatcher set ablaze in Makurdi

Tragedy struck as jungle justice was visited on a suspected motorcycle snatcher as angry youths allegedly set him ablaze on Sunday at about 4.A.m at Nyon, a suburb settlement in Makurdi, Benue capital city.

The incident occurred when the motorcycle rider met a syndicate of thieves in the early hours of Sunday who intercepted him and pleaded to convey the suspected motor cycles snatchers at 2k near Iyaikyo market.

Confirming the incident, the victim who gave his name as John Usha, told our reporter that it took interventions of the community for his rescue.

Eyewitness told New National Star soon as their destination was reaching other member among them names withheld pull out gun on the motorcycle rider to surrender the keys.

He stated that the commercial motorcycle rider allegedly summoned courage and forcefully pounce on him shouted “thief- thief ” which drew the attention of inhabitants who came to the scene.

The witness further stated that other accomplice escape by the whiskers when large number of sympathisers rush to the scene of the incident and allegedly set ablaze the culprit

A community leader who preferred to remained anonymous disclosed that in recent times criminals have been terrorising as inhabitants hardly sleeps with two eyes close in the area.

It could be recalled that similar incident in the early this year occurred at Kanshio junction where irate youths allegedly burnt to ashes motorcycle thief reoccurrence again.

Efforts to obtained clarification with Benue command police public relations officer PPRO Superintendent Catherine Anene was abortive as her mobile line rang engaged after several attempts.
