Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Fasheyi Akindele said Adedayo was impeached after he appeared before the councillors, following an invitation extended to him over allegations of fund mismanagement.
Akindele in the statement noted that the impeached council chairman eventually appeared before the legislative council after ignoring series of invitations in the past.
He added that eleven councillors participated in the session leading to the impeachment of the embattled council chairman.
The probe also alleged that Adedayo spent the council’s funds till August 2023 when the budget was yet to be approved, whereas the laws only allowed him to spend till March 2023.
The Leader of the Council, submitted that the suspended chairman has run foul of the laws of the land, specifically the Ogun State Local Government Laws 2006 and committed serious impeachable offences.
He further disclosed that the impeachment of the chairman was put to votes where five councillors voted for his removal, four, voting against his sack while one councilor abstained.
Subsequently, the Leader of the House then pronounced Mr. Adedayo impeached as the Chairman of Ijebu East LG.
