The Taraba Independent Peace Committee condemned the killing of 6 passengers along Takum- Chanchanji road, Benue axis of Taraba state.

In a press statement by the Chairman Professor Talla Ngarka, says it is deeply saddened and outraged by the relentless attacks and killings that have plagued the Takum-Chanchanji and Takum-Katsina-Ala roads, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives and the kidnapping of many in recent times.

It recalls that this attack came only a few weeks after the brutal murder of the Gara of Chanchanji, a respected traditional ruler, on the same road.

It says these consistent and coordinated acts of violence have left the communities in the area in a state of fear and despair.

The group calls on the governments of Taraba and Benue States to urgently collaborate and take decisive action to address the insecurity that has become rampant in these areas.

The statement demands increased security presence and intelligence gathering along these roads to prevent further attacks.

It equally stresses that is also crucial that the perpetrators of these crimes are apprehended and brought to justice to serve as a deterrent to others.

The group extends its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prays for the peaceful repose of their souls.
