Taraba High Court announces date for annual  vacation.

Taraba state chief judge, Hon. Justice Joel Agya on Friday announced that the state high court would on the 12th August, 2024 commence her annual vacation.

Justice Agya in press release, explained that the vacation follow the Constitutional provision which provided under order 8 rule 4 (1) and (2) of the Taraba state high court civil procedure rules 2011.

According to the statement, the state high court would not be sitting within the period of sex weeks, which would commence on Monday, 12th August, 2024, and end on Sunday 7th October, 2024.

“Whereas, it is provided under order 8 rule 4 (1) and (2) of the Taraba state high court civil procedure rules 2011, that there shall be annual vacation of the high court of the state to commence on the such date in August and of such duration, not exceeding six weeks, as the chief Judge may by notification in the gazette appoint.

“Therefore, it is hereby notify for general information that there shall be a vacation of the high court throughout the state commencing from Monday 12th August, 2024 and ending on Sunday 7th October, 2024.

For the avoidance of doubt, vacation in this notification means that the courts in all the division of the high court of the State will not be sitting during the period stated except where the action is urgent or a judge at the request of all the parties concerned agreed to hear the action”. The statement read.

The statement also announced that during the vacation period, Hon.  justice John D Yakubu would serve as vacation judge.
