The Taraba State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has inaugurated Abubakar Bawa as the party Chairman and 9 others as new state executive council (exco).
The election who took place on Saturday at the Jolly Nyame Stadium Jalingo, saw the emergence of the current political adviser to the governor, Abubakar Bawa as chairman, while Obida Bitrus emerged as deputy chairman.
Other elected officials are: Siman Musa- Secretary, Musa Istifanus-Treasurer, Barrister Danladi Ahmadu- Legal Adviser Barrister Ephraim Usman- Financial Secretary, Andetarang iranmae- Publicity Secretary, Danladi Sabo- auditor, Bala Baba- Organizing Secretary, Ado Mohammed- youth leader and Lois Emmanuel as women leader.
The newly elected executive members who were sworn in by Yakubu Maikasuwa (SAN) the state commissioner for justice in accordance with the PDP Constitution.
The Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas who spoke during the election, commends the electoral process and charge the newly elected excos to be proactive in discharging their duties.
“As a former party chairman, I know the task ahead to pilot a party affairs. To all the new party excos from ward, local government I congratulate you all. This shows how strong our party is in Taraba”.
Speaking shortly after the inauguration, the newly elected chairman of the party, Hon. Abubakar Bawa resolved to put machinery in motion to build an indivisible, united and strong PDP to be victorious in all elections.
He maintained that PDP remains the only democratic party not just in Taraba but across the country, urging those who left the party to retrace their steps as the doors of the party remain open to them.
He charged other state executive members of the party to stay focused, reminding them of the onerous task ahead to lead the party to subsequent electoral victories.
“By the special grace of God, as we ran the party from 1999 to date, we are going to strategize and do more for the PDP to emerge formidable in all elections. We will ensure the unity of our party members and fairness in the party” he said.
