The Lagos Region of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has commissioned two new 100/125MVA power transformers at its 330/132/33kV Alagbon Transmission Substation in Lagos State.
A statement released by TCN General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, indicated that the commissioning ceremony took place on Thursday 18th January, 2024.
The statement also revealed that the commissioning of the 2×100/125 MVA ower transformers has increased the capacity of the substation from 240MVA to 440MVA and enhanced more bulk power transmission to Eko DisCo for offtake to its customers in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Banana Island and some parts of Lagos Island and Lekki.
It further stated that this project is part of the ongoing TCN’s rehabilitation projects to boost power supply nationwide.
Recalled on 28th December 2023, TCN announced the delivery of seven new power transformers in Lagos region with capacities ranging from 60MVA to 100MVA and their accessories to Akangba 330/132kV Transmission Substation as part of its effort to increase the company’s transmission capacity in the region and Nigeria at large.
The transformers according to the Company are part of the ongoing TCN/World Bank power projects and would be distributed to Alausa 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Akoka 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Maryland 132/33kV Transmission Substation, Itire 132/33kV Transmission Substation and Amuwo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
