TCN records 76.47% reduction in grid disturbances in 5-year

Contrary to reports, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its has recorded a total of 20 grid disturbances/system collapse between the year 2020 to date which represents 76.47 percent.

TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, in a statement released on Wednesday, showed that the number of grid disturbances has gradually reduced compared to what was obtainable in previous five years from 2015 to 2019 where its had recorded sixty-four and twenty-one partial grid disturbances, totalling eighty-five (85) times.

Mbah however attributed the improvement experienced to the continued effort of the management led by Engr. Sule Abdulaziz, Managing Director of the Company, that have strategically expand the grid while harnessing in-house capacities to find solutions to grid stability, pending the deployment of SCADA/EMS.

“No doubt there is room for improvement, and TCN will continue to work hard to further reduce the number of grid disturbances to the barest minimum”, said the GM.
