Journalist were on Wednesday reportedly barred from entering the venue of the ongoing National Convention of the Labour Party (LP) holding at the Grand Seasons Hotel, Nnewi, Anambra state.

The development, according to observers, was not just disturbing, but unbecoming and inexplicable, just as the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiorah Ifoh refused to pick his calls nor respond to text messages.

Series of calls and messages were sent to him urging him to approach the front desk with necessary materials, but Ifoh was said to have remained inside the building early morning for more barely four hours.

Meanwhile, no fewer than five hoodlums
were arrested and whisked away to police headquarters while allegedly distributing inciting leaflets critical of the party leadership.

The suspects were accused of trying to cause chaos and destabilize the ongoing convention in connivance with their sponsors.

LP has been experiencing crisis following leadership tussle over who becomes national chairman of the party, a move many political watchers describe as unhealthy to the growth of the party.

But one of the delegates who spoke to our correspondent in confidence, said the leaders were currently managing the situation.
