Thieves raid Nasarawa government farm, steal rice

The theft of a substantial amount of rice from the state government’s farm in the Jangwa community of the Awe Local Government Area has been denounced by Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State.

At the Government House in Lafia on Thursday, the governor disclosed the incident to a group of Azara people led by Sarkin Azara, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim.

Governor Sule said in a statement sent by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Addra, that the theft was a major blow to the government’s attempts to improve food security and assist citizens in the face of economic hardship.

Sule said, “The state government is saddened by the level of theft during the harvest, even though it is pleased with the yield recorded.”

The governor denounced the criminals’ behavior, describing it as regrettable in light of the state’s increased efforts to fight hunger and boost agricultural output.

At a time when we are making every effort to provide relief to our people and guarantee food security in Nasarawa and beyond, he said, “this level of theft is disheartening.”

Additionally, Sule delivered a severe warning, promising that anyone found stealing from the farm will be subject to the full force of the law.

Governor Sule reiterated his administration’s dedication to food security and agricultural growth in spite of the occurrence.

He thanked the locals and traditional leaders for their assistance, which has been crucial to the accomplishment of the government’s agricultural initiatives in the region.

“We will not be deterred. Nasarawa State, being an agricultural hub, must have its government leading the charge in agricultural activities,” the governor added.
