A little over two months of the year 2024 have passed, and the people of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea are advancing to achieve the goals of the year according to their timetable.
This year the country has to build 10 000 flats at the fourth stage in its capital city of Pyongyang and modern houses in different parts of the rural communities as it did in 2022 and 2023. In addition, continuous efforts will be made to perfect its irrigation system, reclaim tidelands and build wheat-processing plants in several areas.
The Ryongsong Machine Complex, the country’s machine-building giant, will be renovated as a standard and model of modernization project, and 12 major goals including grain, electricity and coal production will have to be achieved as the country did last year.
A new poultry farm as modern as the newly-built Kwangchon Chicken Farm will be built in Pyongyang. The Pyongyang General Hospital under construction now will be opened, and a similar hospital will be built in Kangwon Province.
From this year on, the country will push ahead with the Regional Development 20×10 Policy to build new regional-industry factories in 20 counties every year for ten years. To this end, a non-standing central committee for promoting the policy started its work.
The munitions industry and space development sectors will lay a reliable foundation for steadily increasing the production of nuclear weapons to carry out the nuclear weapons production plan for 2024, and launch three reconnaissance satellites.
Looking back, the country has never made its timetable in a slipshod manner. It is associated with the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Un, President of the State Affairs of the DPRK.
Attending the groundbreaking ceremonies of major construction projects, he sometimes makes a speech and shovels the first spadeful of earth, showing his unshakeable will to his people that a promise he made with his people, a goal he set, will be accomplished according to the set timetable. He also makes on-site guidance at various fields of the economic and defence sectors, encouraging the people in their work and indicating the orientation and ways for achieving their goals.
Thanks to his energetic guidance, the country witnessed world-startling successes last year.
These successes constitute a solid foundation for the advance in 2024, and the soaring patriotic zeal of the people guarantees the accomplishment of this year’s goals.
In January this year the monthly economic plans were all attained–130% for rolled steel, 102% for nitrogenous fertilizer, 109% for coal and 105% for nonferrous metal and cement. This opened a prospect for achieving this year’s goals.
Now the Korean people are advancing full of optimism. Despite severe difficulties last year, we achieved successes, so we can achieve a greater victory this year as we have a solider foundation–this is their mettle.
They are unshakeable in their will to attain any goals guided by their leader Kim Jong Un and to bring earlier a brighter future by advancing according to the timetable set by him.
