Senator Remi Tinubu, the president’s wife, gave N950 million to 250 police officers, veterans, and other elderly people in Abuja on Thursday.
She said that each recipient of the Elderly Support Scheme, which she introduced the first iteration of for the Renewed Hope Initiative, will get N100,000. According to her, the program’s goal is to give older folks financial support so they can deal with the present financial challenges.
According to Mrs. Tinubu, “This economic empowerment program represents a significant advancement in our shared goal of creating a more compassionate and inclusive society. It is the result of our unwavering commitment to the well-being of our elderly citizens.”
250 vulnerable senior persons, 65 years of age and over, from all 36 states in the federation, the Federal Capital Territory, and veterans from the Defense and Police Officers’ Wives Association are to be supported by this initiative. “These selected beneficiaries will receive N100,000 each.” This is to lessen the impact of the current economic climate and our respected elders’ burdens during this joyous occasion.
She said that N25 million would be distributed to recipients by each of the 36 federation states.
“Every state in the federation will receive the sum of N25 million,” Mrs. Tinubu continued. Without exception, we pledge to make sure that every state receives this gesture.
“We acknowledge the unique challenges faced by the elderly and honor their contributions by reaching out to them during this festive season.”
She asked the elderly to pray for and support the president.
“This should be a period of joy and comfort for everyone, even as we hope for a greater Nigeria in terms of security, education, health, employment, and business opportunities for everyone,” Mrs. Tinubu stated. As we hope for brighter times ahead, we kindly ask for your ongoing prayers and support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
