To add Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) board of directors, President Bola Tinubu has asked the Senate for approval.
Tinubu’s plea was made in a letter that was read aloud in Senate plenary on Wednesday in Abuja and was addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpiabio.
In the letter, Tinubu stated that the Central Bank of Nigeria Establishment Act of 2007’s section 10, sub-section one requirements were being followed by the request for confirmation.
“I am happy to propose Dr. Ruby Onwudiwe’s appointment to the CBN board of directors for Senate confirmation.
The Senate is cordially asked to take note that Mr. Kalu Eke has been replaced by Onwudiwe, as Eke was unable to assume the role.
Therefore, I’m hoping that the Senate would quickly review and approve Onwudiwe’s appointment as per customary.
Tinubu said, “Please accept the assurances of my highest regards.”
