Tinubu’s devotion for Nigerian workers is evident in N70,000 minimum wage- Lado

Sen. Basheer Lado, Special Advisor to the President on Senate Matters, stated that President Bola Tinubu’s compassion for the suffering of Nigerians was evident in his signing of the newly passed national minimum wage into law.

This was mentioned by Lado in an Abuja statement that was made available on Tuesday. Lado emphasized that President Tinubu was a man of his words, as seen by the minimum wage bill’s quick passage and assent.

“With time, the people-centric governance model would turn the fortunes of this nation,” he continued, adding that it was a promise kept for both the citizens and the workers in Nigeria.

The presidential aide recalled that Tinubu signed the bill into law because he had promised Nigerian workers a living wage during his campaign for office.

The presidential aide recalled that Tinubu had promised Nigerian workers a living wage during his campaign, so the bill’s passage into law was a good development. He also added that the provision requiring an increase in worker wages every three years instead of every five years was a nice touch.
“This demonstrates that workers’ take-home pay will persist under the current administration,” he declared.

“The President should be commended by all for honoring his word.”

Lado also praised Nigerian laborers for their tenacity and long-term contributions to the development of their country.

He exhorted them to work harder at providing efficient services for the country’s growth and development.

He also praised the Organized Labor Movement, which is headed by Comrades Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), and Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

He praised their meticulous, responsible, and amicable negotiations, which resulted in a more than 100% increase in workers’ pay, from N30,000 to N70,000.

Lado also praised the National Assembly for passing the Minimum Wage Bill quickly, under the direction of Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abass and Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
