Troops rescue six abducted worshippers in Kogi

Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade have rescued six abducted persons from bandits operating within the Ejiba–Saminaka axis of Yagba East LGA in Kogi State.

Brigade spokesperson, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, confirmed in a statement on Tuesday that the rescue operation involved coordinated air and ground offensives, supported by a Nigeria Police helicopter.

The pressure, he said, forced the kidnappers to abandon their captives.

Five victims have since been reunited with their families in Egbe and Ejiba, while one is receiving medical attention.

The rescue followed an attack on a Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba on Sunday, during which the pastor and several worshippers were kidnapped.
