Two persons were feared dead on Wednesday when traders and commercial motorcyclists clashed in Dei Dei, a suburb of Abuja.
It was gathered that a section of the popular timber market was set ablaze when a riot broke out between Igbo traders and Hausa motorcyclists following the death of a woman.
Many traders specialising in the sale of plywood and related products suffered huge monetary losses in the clash.
The uproar, which assumed an ethnic dimension between Igbo traders and some Northern youths, started when a woman fell off a commercial motorcycle and was crushed to death by a moving articulated vehicle.
The incident enraged a mob, which set the motorcycle on fire. The commercial motorcyclists were said to have been mobilised in large numbers and attacked the traders.
They set the timber market owned mainly by Igbo traders on fire, causing them huge losses.
